Cygnos 360 is a Modchip that allows you to have more than one kernel version on your xbox 360. Currently users can only have either a vulnerable kernel version (4532 or 4548) OR the current kernel version that is neccessary to use xbox live and play the newest games. Cygnos360 enables you to conveniently switch between your "live kernel" and your "homebrew kernel".

You can also use Cygnos360 to switch between PAL and NTSC kernels.

NOTE: Cygnos360 does not contain any kernel image! It is shipped empty! Cygnos360 does NOT enable "backups" it is NOT for the DVD drive. You need to have an infectus programmer or another programmer to flash the Cygnos360

In the Xbox 360, on-board NAND-flash memory stores important data like the hypervisor, kernel, and key vault.

Through installation of Cygnos 360, the onboard NAND-flash memory is complemented with another NAND-flash memory contained on the Cygnos 360 printed-circuit board. Being able to choose between both NAND-flash memories opens up a variety of new fascinating possibilities. The following list tries to give you an impression about what can be done with Cygnos 360:

play imported games or movies by switching your region code

Please note that some of the possible uses of Cygnos 360 require you to know your Xbox 360 CPU key. At the moment, this key can only be extracted by booting a vulnerable kernel, such as version 4532 or 4548. If your current kernel version is newer than 4548, you will have to downgrade, which is up to date only possible with non HDMI Xbox 360 models (as far as we know production dates earlier than July 2007 are safe)

A kernel version older than 4532 does not pose a problem, since it can be upgraded to either version 4532 or 4548. Downgrading the Xbox 360 as well as programming Cygnos 360 assumes the temporary installation of an Infectus 1 or 2 mod-chip.

Q. CYGNOS 360 V2.0

I own an Xbox 360 that was manufactured this year, so it's a Jasper
with a Lite-on DVD drive. I was wondering if there are currently any
mods out that can be used to allow me to play NTSC-J games with it as
it is currently NTSC-U and I have some games that I bought, but cannot
play due to the region coding.

I know that there are several different mod chips out there like the
Cygnos360, Cygnos360 V2, Globe 360 and Infectus that suggest being able to change
the region coding on the Xbox 360 or even the ability to switch
between two regional firmwares, but often I see little notes that
particular versions of firmware are required (i.e. a downgrade is
required) or that they only work with certain Xbox 360 DVD drives.

I'd like to know what my options are, if there are any. I'd also like
to know which would be the easiest for a beginning to work with (e.g.
least number of wires that need to be soldered).

Hello any of these are Difficult level to install on Xbox 360 Main Board.

This new exploit will allow to directly boot homebrew and Dual Region on Xbox 360 Xenon, Xbox 360 Zephyr, Xbox 360 Falcon, Xbox 360 Opus, Xbox 360 Jasper Chip Main Boards.

To Copy an Original Xbox 360 game as a Backup from an Original Xbox 360 Game Disc you will need to get an Xbox 360 External DVD Rom Drive and Connect adaptor.

The adaptor will let you connect this Xbox 360 DVD Drive externally from the PC as an external reader for the Original Xbox 360 Game to transfer the data to your PC where you can then use your Dual Layer DVD Burner to burn the data onto Verbatim Dual Layer DVD+

*** Your PC must have a SATA Port or ESata Port
*** Your PC must be running a 32Bit O/S like Windows XP 32 or Vista 32 Bit or Windows 7 32 Bit

1. ABGX makes Backup games detectable online except for 4 Major Online Titles Only.
2. By Using this program you did cause the Games to be detected not the Xbox.

As of today , none of these XBOX 360 extra disc checks are being performed, but it is only a matter of time before a game will. The same sort of checks were introduced to XBox1 games a while ago. I performed an exhaustive check of every command that the Samsung firmware can respond to and these differences were discovered.
The Samsung firmware only supports a limited subset of commands from the MMC-3/4 standards so not all commands exist compared to a standard PC drive, so anyone testing for media specific information should bear this in mind.
Non-Stealth backups for Xbox 360 will still boot with stealth firmware and will be enhanced with the PSN Lockdown and PFI Sector embedded in the firmware. These backups will have no DMI and possibly have a blank video partition, both of which can be checked for.

WHY YOU SHOULD NOT USE ABGX - FURTHER QUOTE: by using ABGX you actually made the backups detectable - ABGX Database was current till about January to March 2009 ONLY and the program checker was only suited for 4 really popular XBOX 360 online games- because of its success on these 4 titles everyone jumped on the bandwagon and used the tool for all XBOX games without considering the 3rd and 4th data scrripts apparent on releases this year.
