Q . I am looking to get a mod chip for my xbox 360.
I am wondering how much it will cost to send to Townsville. Also, I am wondering whether it comes with a homebrew application to change the standard graphical interface, or whether I would have to get that seperately. If it doesn't come with one, what would you recommend.
I am also wondering whether the Xbox 360 hard drives that are in the 360 are SATA or IDE.

Q. My xbox360 had a power surge.
The console blinked 3 red lights, i turned it off and on, when it came back on it had all green lights. But now it can't connect with the wireless controlers, i can turn the console on with the controller but it doesn't detect them after that. i have tried the connect button on the controllers and console but it didn't help.It's also not detecting the wireless network adapter.

Hello Im from Perth Western Australia , and my brother is from Adelaide in South Australia we each own an Xbox 360 - when we visited the local mod chip people here in our states they told us that you CAN NOT play NTSC games on a PAL Xbox 360 Console - is this true about Xbox 360 Mods??
A. Yes Xbox 360 mod chips CAN allow NTSC games to play on a PAL Console - YES even Original NTSC games can play on a PAL Xbox 360 Console - It is a process by where the Code on the Xbox 360 is substituted for different region code. This means while it plays original and backups of NTSC games it would not play originals and backups from PAL Australia - until the hex code is changed back.
This is the same for all Version Xbox 360 - NTSC-J Xbox 360 - NTSC-U/C - Xbox 360 PAL - all can be changed to different region !!

Samsung firmware can respond to and these differences were discovered.
The Samsung firmware only supports a limited subset of commands from the MMC-3/4 standards so not all commands exist compared to a standard PC drive, so anyone testing for media specific information should bear this in mind.
Non-Stealth backups for Xbox 360 will still boot with stealth firmware and will be enhanced with the PSN Lockdown and PFI Sector embedded in the firmware. These backups will have no DMI and possibly have a blank video partition, both of which can be checked for.
Xbox 360 Stealth backups will still boot with non-stealth firmware but will be exposed to the above top three differences (PSN Lockdown,PFI,DMI) making the backup detectable. Correct Video partition is present.
WHY YOU SHOULD NOT USE ABGX - FURTHER QUOTE: by using ABGX you actually made the backups detectable - ABGX Database was current till about January to March 2009 ONLY and the program checker was only suited for 4 really popular XBOX 360 online games- because of its success on these 4 titles everyone jumped on the bandwagon and used the tool for all XBOX games without considering the 3rd and 4th data scrripts apparent on releases this year.

Here is some sweet information about game-dumping issues, the network off feature and the banning craze...
First of all we have a very helpful hint for people who have problems dumping their original games using the new SHD162D or SHD163B drives using the KREON firmware. There are a lot of reports of the drives failing to read the security sectors at the 3% stage of the whole reading progress. The solution is as simple as this: install CloneCD, reboot your PC and you're good to go. We don't exactly know what CloneCD is doing to help with this problem, our guess is that it is refreshing some drivers during the installation.
Also we feel that there is some requirement of an indepth explanation of the network and usb off features: You are an XBox Live user and you are using the network off feature so the Xbox360 can not go online through the network connection when playing a backup. But you also want to play a link game with your friends from time to time which you are using a backup for. So as the network connection is turning off when inserting a backup you can use the usb network adapter to connect with your friends' Xbox360 consoles. You can also use the vice versa way: When you play live using the USB Network Adapter then use the USB off feature. This way the Xbox360 can not go online when a backup is inserted but you can still use the network connection to play link games with your friends in case the link games are backups.
What about all this banning from the Xbox Live service? We have made some more investigation. When using the NME-360 v2 chip wisely then you can not get banned from the Xbox Live service (as of today of course). The NME-360 v2 chip itself can not be detected as it is fully stealth. The only thing that can get you in trouble is when you are playing a backup online. So if you only play original games online and backups offline there is no chance to get banned from the XBox Live service. Even in the case you are crazy enough to not to use the network off feature and you go online with an activated NME-360 v2 chip your XBox360 box can not get banned. Only if you play a backup chances are pretty high your box gets banned. For your extra piece of a secure mind you should of course always use the latest stealth methods to dump your games. So be wise, use the network off feature and play only original games online!!!
